In 1977 Alex Chueh was determined to create a brand of yachts that, in spite immense pressure to cut production costs, emphasized long-term quality ensuring a trustworthy brand world-wide. In 1978, the first 50-foot Ocean Alexander yacht, named the 'Mark I Classic', was unveiled with a positive response, being the first yacht that size made out of fibreglass.
