Under starry skies, at a suitably sophisticated waterfront location, for the admiration of an exclusive and eminently VIP guest list, the year’s most anticipated yacht launches will be celebrated in impeccable style, Friday 3 May.
The venue is The Boat Works, the headquarters of Alexander Marine Australia, dealer for Galeon Yachts and Ocean Alexander, the brand ranked 6th in the world by length for builders 78 feet (24m) and above according to Boat International’s 2019 Global Order Book.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate, various dignitaries, leaders of the business and boating communities, owners, tenants and friends will gather for the “big reveal” – which is bound to incorporate some theatrics given the theme is “Shaken Not Stirred” and will feature some of the most covetable yachting brands, prestige Aston Martin and McLaren automobiles, exquisite diamond jewellery from Calleija and top-shelf catering complemented by Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial.
The occasion also marks the first public viewing of The Boat Works new $100 million superyacht precinct, which effectively doubles the facility to 43 acres.
Once complete, it will comprise 20 superyacht sheds, hardstand storage for up to 20 superyachts up to 45m, 50 new marina berths and a 300 Tonne Travel Lift, due to arrive in September. Stage 1 of the new marina will welcome vessels from 1 May.
Sharing the spotlight, the stars of the show will be the three multi-million dollar, jaw-dropping motor yachts: two award-winning models from Galeon Yachts, and the new Ocean Alexander 88 Skylounge.
Galeon Yachts
Displayed on the hardstandfor guests to admire, the Galeon 460 Fly and 510 Skydeck, boasting award-winning design and engineering.
With a reputation for unparalleled attention to detail, cutting edge technology and ground-breaking designs, Galeon has 30 years’ experience in hand-crafted vessels and has received numerous prestigious awards.
Described as “tricked out cruisers”, these motor yachts are brimming with ingenious innovation which is the result of a successful design partnership with UK-based Tony Castro Design Studio and the up-and-coming Roberto Curtò Design.
At 14.35m (47-feet), the Galeon 460 Fly includes a variety of ground-breaking innovations. The Flybridge is the ideal place to savour the alfresco lifestyle in complete comfort, with generous-sized table and seating, wet bar and an array of sunpads adjacent to the helm, plus a retractable bimini for protection from the elements.
The second, larger model is the Galeon 510 Skydeck, with a length overall of 16.2m (53-feet).
Both vessels boast the ingenious ‘Beach Mode’ which is sure to turn heads everywhere they moor and delight guests onboard. These cantilevered aft side fold out balconies, to port and starboard, extend the usable cockpit width to close to 6 metres wide.
The Galeon 510 Skydeck takes innovation one step further with its ability to combine the advantages of a bridge deck with the distinct, sporty look of a hardtop.
Within a few short minutes a spacious open air flybridge area and helm station can be configured, simply and conveniently, without removing and stowing away multiple covers.
Alexander Marine Australia Dealer Principal, Todd Holzapfel said “Galeon motor yachts are totally unique thanks to the design input of internationally-regarded naval architects and a talented design team.
“People will be amazed by Galeon’s innovative design features such as aft side fold out balconies and the versatile window systems featured on board each vessel. We’re sure the Australian and NZ boating public will be just as impressed with Galeon range as we are!”
