Looking for an opportunity to check out the latest and greatest yachts in Australia? Whether you are looking to travel or would rather something more local, there are plenty of events spread around the country.
For the best of the best, look no further than the following six events, which range from trade shows to international sporting events.
1. Superyacht Australia Soirée
If you’re wanting to see some of the most luxurious superyachts in Australia, you can’t miss the annual Superyacht Australia Soirée, typically held at Jones Bay Wharf in Sydney.
Attendees of the annual event gather to celebrate the country’s superyacht industry and celebrate Sydney as a superyacht destination. Due to restrictions in 2021, the event was moved outside, and guests were able to experience some of the finest superyachts. Guests were even lucky enough to get on board one of Alexander Marine’s premium brokerage yachts.
For those looking for superyachts, the Superyacht Australia Soirée is a must-attend event.
The Australian Superyacht, Marine Export and Commercial Industry Conference (ASMEX) is a great event for those who are looking to network with yacht owners, manufacturers and designers. Next held at Sanctuary Cove in 2021, ASMEX provides attendees with information on new and emerging information and trends in the marine industry.
3. Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show
The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is known as one of the premier boat shows in the Southern Hemisphere. The event has grown significantly in its 32-year history and now attracts over 45,000 visitors per year as well as 300+ exhibitors and 600+ watercraft.
With a number of strong industry partners such as Superyacht Australia, Princess Yachts, Sunseeker and Horizon Yachts Australia, to name a few, the event is a must-attend for yachting enthusiasts.
4. Sydney International Boat Show
Since 1965 the Sydney International Boat Show has been a key event for boating enthusiasts across Australia. In recent years the show has been revamped, with it being hosted at the newly constructed International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour as well as Cockle Bay.
The Sydney International Boat Show features all things marine related including fishing, boating safety, canoeing and diving. But there is still plenty on offer for yacht enthusiasts. Notable corporate exhibitors at previous instalments of the Show include Australian Superyachts, Horizon International Australia, Sunseeker Australia and Princess Yachts.
5. Hamilton Island Race Week
One of Australia’s favourite yachting events is the Hamilton Race Week. This event is Australia’s largest offshore keelboat regatta, and is a must-attend for any yachting enthusiast.
This has been an annual event since 1983, and is now attended by people from all over the globe. Each year, it is recognised for setting new standards in the world of sailboat racing.
This seven-day event is one that everyone in the yachting industry needs to have in their calendars.
6. Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race
A prestigious event in the Australian sporting calendar, the Sydney to Hobart has the reputation as one of the most difficult nautical races in the world. Rivalling the America’s Cup in terms of media coverage, the Sydney to Hobart race spans approximately 1,170km across the notorious Bass Strait.
The fleet includes maxi yachts typically of around 30m in length, giving spectators the opportunity to view the latest innovations in yacht racing.
