Alexander Marine are pleased to have SOLD this Ocean Alexander 78.
She was a rare offering in Australia being the only 78 cruising our local waterways. Being an Ocean Alexander, who was now the 4th largest motor yacht builder in the world by way of vessel output, 'L V Three' benefited from superior engineering and finishes including her full two-pack paint finish to her hull and superstructure. Her Ed Monk Jnr naval architecture delivered a hull that is dry and soft for incredible blue water performance (and whisper-quiet at anchor too!!) - indeed 'L V Three' had cruised Tasmania and Nth Queensland thus far having originally been delivered new into Florida. She handled our challenging Australian boating conditions with ease given her excellent build quality and features redundancy for remote area cruising. The 78 was a highly successful model for Ocean Alexander and 'L V Three' was hull number 19.
Some signature features of this model included wide walk-around decks, plus 'L V Three' had been further optimized so as it's dog friendly (including the flybridge area) - We didn't want a man's best friend to miss out on all the fun.
Stepping aboard 'L V Three was via dual access steps up from the extended teak laid hi/lo swim platform (making her then 83ft in length overall), or via a dedicated border ladder that stows on board. The hi/lo swim platform was equipped with beach umbrella's so as to serve as the beach club for relaxing down by the water. Her tender could be stowed on either the hi/lo platform (for short passages) or otherwise stowed up top on the boat deck (for crossing oceans). 'L V Three' was equipped with zero speed stabilizers for comfort underway and at rest and Humphree ride control system. Access to the crew cabin and through to the engine room was possible via a centreline watertight door off the hi/lo swim platform. Secondary access to the crew cabin and engine room, when at sea, was via an entry out of the cockpit.
Her teak-laid cockpit offered plenty of weather protection courtesy of the boat deck above and is complemented with clears (plus a separate privacy mesh system) for all-weather boating. This area was teak laid and flowed nicely into the saloon via polished stainless steel automatic doors.
The saloon featured signature Ocean Alexander craftsmanship and recently refreshed soft furnishings. Her oversize L-shaped sofa to starboard, plus large ottoman, make for a relaxing environment in which to watch some TV or read a book. The saloon area offered plenty of cupboard storage space (as does the whole boat), and also housed the ship's audio-visual rack. Her closed bulkhead design was well suited to long passages as off-watch guests and crew relaxing in the saloon were well separated from the captain (especially at night) should he or she be taking advantage of the climate-controlled lower helm station. Immediately opposite the saloon sofa, on the port side as you move forward, was the day head.
Once forward of the saloon, you entered the galley and pilothouse space. The galley was positioned to starboard and was an entertainer's delight. It was huge - with supersize cooking appliances including a Jenn Air including French door full height upright fridge. The all-weather centreline helm station was equipped with all the necessary Furuno navigation equipment at his or her fingertips and offers the skipper great visibility. To the port of the helm there was a settee and table which was a handy space in which to enjoy a snack, and or keep the captain company while underway - or both!
Access to the lower deck guest accommodation was via a staircase to the starboard side of the helm. Down below you would find three spacious cabins - especially the master cabin. The oversized mid-master was a haven of relaxation. Each of the three guest cabins was ensuited. Crew accommodation was aft under the cockpit sole.
Her spacious flybridge was accessed from either an internal staircase in the pilothouse or from a ladder from the cockpit if you were wet! The flybridge helm station offered amazing views. The flybridge area was an entertainer's delight, and enjoyed considerable protection from the elements courtesy of a larger GRP hardtop and cleared to three sides. The layout included a bar for serious entertaining!! The tender cradles were removable so once the tender was deployed (or stowed down on the hi/lo platform) the boat deck became a spacious sun-lovers paradise. Needless to say, the elevated views from this large area kept everyone entertained while the cold beverages flew.
Like all Ocean Alexander, her machinery space was impressive. Twin Caterpillar C-18's were the perfect power plant for this vessel offering impressive sprint speeds up to 21 knots when required. 'L V Three' had multiple duplicated systems including two Kohler generators. For long-range cruising, she naturally featured laundry and water-making equipment. She was equipped with a wireless Yacht Controller docking remote, and hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, for ease of docking. 'L V Three' was maintained to a high standard and was complete with a detailed service history.
'L V Three' enjoyed a range of updates in 2020 including a comprehensive soft furnishings refresh which had her presented beautifully, whilst maintaining her traditional interior styling. Also, a full suite of lithium batteries were installed in 2020 offering amazing performance benefits over traditional lead-acid systems. 'L V Three' was professionally crewed, and therefore presented turn-key ready for her next owner to go boating tomorrow.
Having cruised the boat internationally prior to her Australian owner bringing 'L V Three' home, she was equipped with power conversion equipment that permitted plugging into any voltage anywhere in the world should her new owner wish to continue worldwide cruising. She was GST and duty paid in Australia. She was Cayman Island flagged.
