DESCRIPTION & DETAILS

Alexander Marine are pleased to have SOLD the 2008 Clipper 40 'Serenity'.

Since their popularity in the 1970's and 80's, Clipper have maintained their reputation as offering displacement trawler-style motor yachts with an affordable price tag. They pride themselves on delivering comfortable cruising vessels suitable for our Australian boating lifestyle. If you are looking for the stability of a larger vessel, elegance and charm, and a boat that is renowned for holding their resale value - then a Clipper 40 is worthy of your close consideration.

'Serenity' is a single engine displacement cruiser meaning she offered a more comfortable ride in rougher conditions which for many, translates into more memorable cruising experiences. Her substantial 15-tonne displacement hull dictates she was designed to cruise at up to 9 knots, so as they say, its about the journey not just the destination. You will also have a fatter wallet when you do arrive in port because fuel efficiency is a notable feature of the Clipper 40, a revered benefit of displacement hulls.

The teak cockpit was fitted with two lounges with room for a table to take advantage of outdoor dining. When not in use the table and chairs can be stored in the handy lazarette keeping the cockpit area neat and tidy. Most of your entertaining will take place up in the flybridge which was accessed via steps and a ladder from the cockpit. Here, you and your guests can have extra space to sit back, have a glass of wine with your freshly barbequed lunch (possibly caught by you) while taking in the uninterrupted water views.

Stepping into the main saloon of 'Serenity' through the oversized sliding door from the cockpit, lay a charming living area with U-shaped lounge and dining table to port. Adjacent to the dining area was another large lounge, bar fridge and television. The saloon is bathed in natural light coming in through the expansive windows. Forward to starboard is the lower helm station with an immaculate and functional U-shaped galley to port. Roast dinners, baked bread, scones and cakes can all be made in the convection microwave oven compatible with both 12 and 240 volt. The diet can wait until after cruising season.

The lower helm station, which offered great vision, was the optimum place from which to captain the vessel on offshore passages given you will be as low as possible to the waterline. For shorthanded operation of the vessel the portside sliding helm door out onto the side deck is just fantastic - add to that the additional ventilation that this door provides when required. The Clipper 40 configuration also included walk around decks keeping old and young crew members safe at all times when moving about the boat.

'Serenity's' accommodation consisted of two cabins. The master cabin is situated forward with a semi walkaround double bed. A comfortable airconditioned space onboard if needed for those hot summer nights. The cabin also featured large storage drawers and hanging robe. The guest cabin is located on the same level port side with two bunk beds. The saloon sofa can convert to a single bed offering another overnight berth option. Opposite the guest cabin is the pristine bathroom with Jabsco electric head and separate shower stall. For convenience, there is an additional shower on the swim platform.

Powered by a 305HP Cummins QSB 5.9lt 6cyl Common Rail Electronic Diesel engine, you could be confident in her reliability. The bow and stern thrusters takes the stress out of docking providing easy manoeuvrability. You would be the envy of all in the marina when they see you dock the boat into the pen as if it was a Mini Cooper! In addition to the benefit of low service costs with a single engine vessel, another bonus was the spaciousness of the engine room when compared to a twin engine configuration.

If you were looking for the performance of a larger vessel but wanted the convenience and affordability of a compact package, 'Serenity' represented excellent value and would not disappoint on your cruising adventures whether it be weekend getaways or a jaunt up and down our beautiful Australian coast.
