In recent months Alexander Marine Dealer Principal / Director Todd Holzapfel and two staff members set off on a trip to Taiwan to visit our manufacturing partners. Taiwan is a hot spot of luxury yacht manufacturing for vessels up to 40m in length, with Ocean Alexander Yachts being consistently crowned the largest manufacturer in the region.

The trip was an opportunity to inspect a range of different yacht models at various stages of the build cycle. We were also pleased to have a yacht buyer and his captain accompany us to Taiwan so as to personally consider the perfect vessel for his needs.

After catching the renowned ‘Bullet Train’ down to Kaohsiung from Taipei, over the duration of the stay the group visited multiple factories, inspecting numerous yachts, and notably partaking in the sea trial of a new Ocean Alexander 37 Legend offshore in the South China Sea off Kaohsiung.

The scale, volume and diversity of the Ocean Alexander Yachts production facilities were amazing to witness. Multiple yachts from each of the Legend, Revolution, Explorer and Puro model range were in build – including getting a sneak peak on the new “baby” 28 Legend which will debut at the 2024 Ft Lauderdale International Boat Show.

In addition to our time spent at Ocean Alexander shipyard and with our Ocean Alexander customer and his captain, we also look the opportunity to tour the Whitehaven Motor Yachts & Offshore Motor Yachts manufacturing facilities also in Kaohsiung. Various new Whitehaven & Offshore Motor Yachts were under construction, being built in a facility that has a long and highly regarded history of boat building in Taiwan. This production facility is equipped with a unique supersize pool/test tank enabling the vessels to spend extended time “in-water” as they are finishing the build process.

As the travelling party returned back to Australia, they were suitably impressed with what they saw.
