DESCRIPTION & DETAILS
Alexander Marine Australia are pleased to present the 2005 Grand Banks 46 Europa ‘Spindrift’ to the market – a stabilised three-cabin blue water proven passagemaker, previously sold by our office.
‘Spindrift’ is a timeless example of one of the most respected names in long-range cruising. The Grand Banks heritage speaks for itself, wherever cruising grounds are found around the world, these iconic yachts are present and trusted for serious coastal passages. With their classic lines and varnished exterior detailing, they continue to turn heads in every harbour.
She has enjoyed an exceptional cruising life with her current owners, first exploring the east coast of Australia and its countless standout destinations, before continuing through the Kimberley and across to Western Australia. Designed for extended passages rather than occasional weekend use, she settles into a comfortable displacement cruise with ease, and with her Naiad stabilisers engaged, she becomes a remarkable blue water proven and capable long-range platform, ideal for those ready to say yes to the next voyage.
Access onboard is via the extended swim platform and modified transom walkthrough, a thoughtful upgrade by her owners that also creates a generous aft area large enough for a couple of deck chairs. From here, you move into the cockpit and then forward into the saloon, where the signature Europa design immediately stands out. One-level living, expansive panoramic windows, and excellent natural light create a bright and open atmosphere. The saloon flows seamlessly into the lower helm area, where a side deck door allows for quick and safe movement between inside and out.
The helm station offers excellent visibility and a commanding yet comfortable operating position, making passage-making both practical and enjoyable. The pilothouse door makes moving between helm and decks quick and safe, providing easy access directly to the side deck.
From the cockpit are stairs leading up to the flybridge, an important design feature on a vessel of this size, providing safe and easy access. The flybridge itself delivers an elevated vantage point underway, as well as a relaxed outdoor space for entertaining or simply enjoying the surroundings at anchor.
Accommodation is thoughtfully arranged for extended time aboard. The forward master stateroom is finished in rich satin varnished timber, featuring a private ensuite, excellent headroom, and four opening ports that provide natural light and cross ventilation. The hull form contributes to a quiet, comfortable night’s rest with reduced hull slap, creating a genuine retreat at the end of the day.
Two guest cabins are positioned amidships and provide single berths for up to four additional guests, supported by a shared bathroom with wet head. When required, the saloon’s extendable lounge offers further flexible accommodation without compromising the living space.
The galley and onboard systems are designed to support extended cruising with ease, including air conditioning, a water maker, and ample refrigeration, ensuring long stays aboard are both practical and well-proven on this vessel.
From a performance perspective, ‘Spindrift’ is powered by twin 450HP Caterpillar engines, delivering a comfortable cruise at approximately 8.3 knots while consuming as little as 22 litres per hour. This provides a range of over 800 nautical miles. For added comfort, Naiad stabilisers ensure a smooth ride at displacement speeds, while full power delivers speeds of up to 17–18 knots when needed.
Mechanically, ‘Spindrift’ has been well maintained, with over $30,000 invested in 2025 alone, including full servicing of the main engine cooling systems and genset. This ongoing care reflects the pride of ownership and confidence in her systems for continued cruising.
‘Spindrift’ represents a superb opportunity to acquire a proven stabilised three-cabin Grand Banks 46 Europa with genuine offshore capability, thoughtful upgrades, and a cruising history that speaks for itself.
You are invited to book a private inspection to view this vessel. If you are unable to travel to inspect this vessel, we would be pleased to offer you a personal guided video tour via telephone with one of our yacht consultants.
