Galeon Boats Chart a Course 'Downunder'

European-made, “tricked out cruisers” with award-winning design and engineering, Galeon Motor Yachts represent a new level of ingenious innovation.

Alexander Marine Australia will host the much-anticipated launch of Galeon Motor Yachts in May 2019, followed by the official Australian debut of the brand and two exemplary models at the 2019 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, 23 to 26 May.

The first two models destined for the local market are the Galeon 460 Fly and 510 Skydeck, chosen for their brilliant features that perfectly suit the Australian boating lifestyle.

Polish-made, with a reputation for unparalleled attention to detail, cutting edge technology and ground-breaking designs, Galeon has 30 years’ experience in hand-crafted vessels.

Since commencing operations in 1982, Galeon has grown from premises in a small facility in Straszyn outside Gdansk, Poland – which originally constructed sailboats for Beneteau and Jeanneau – to become Poland’s largest motor yacht builder with an output of 100 vessels per annum.

In the past few years, the business entered a new era, hailed as Galeon’s “third generation”, with a fruitful design partnership with UK-based Tony Castro Design Studio and the up-and-coming Roberto Curtò Design.

The highly contemporary, award-winning Galeon line of motor yachts has grown to comprise models from 30 to 78 feet and is considered class-leading across its range, offering unparalleled modern styling, innovation and cutting-edge marine technology in every vessel.

At the 2018 Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2018, the Galeon 640 Fly was awarded the prestigious World Yacht Trophy as the “Most Innovative Yacht” in the 60-80 feet category, while the 640 Fly and 650 Skydeck models took out the top prize in the Innovative Onboard Design Solution category at the November 2018 Marine Equipment Trade Show in Amsterdam for their “brilliantly social layouts with opening forward doors”.

At 14.35m (47-feet), the Galeon 460 Fly includes a variety of ground-breaking innovations that are hallmarks of the brand, including an emphasis on oversized and opening glazing and seamless flow of living spaces.

Also unique to Galeon is the ingenious ‘Beach Mode’ cantilevered aft side fold out balconies, to port and starboard, that extend the usable cockpit width to a massive 5.66 metres wide.

Flowing in from the aft deck through sliding glass doors, the 460 Fly entertains in style, with a spacious dining area and a well-appointed aft galley. Sweeping windows and single pane windshield provide 360-degree views from the saloon, galley and lower helm.

Below decks on board the 460, the three-cabin layout comprises a full-beam mid-master with private ensuite, VIP forward and a spacious twin cabin, with a shared bathroom.

Interiors can be customized with myriad options available in cabinetry, fabrics, accessories and equipment so owners can make their Galeon 460 Fly truly their own.

Up on the 460 Flybridge, this dynamically different model invites owners and guests to savour the alfresco lifestyle in complete comfort, with generous-sized table and seating, wet bar and an array of sunpads adjacent to the helm, plus a retractable bimini for protection in all weather.

Powered by twin Volvo Penta shaft driven D8-600hp engines, the Galeon 460 Fly is priced at AUD$1,799,000 inclusive of GST. For those owners who prefer pod propulsion technology the 460 Fly can be Volvo IPS powered.

The Galeon 510 Skydeck, with a length overall of 16.2m (53-feet), shares the same hull as the highly-awarded 500 Fly, as well as all its legendary features, taking innovation one step further with its ingenious Skydeck design.

What sets the 510 Skydeck apart from anything in its class is its ability to combine the advantages of a bridge deck with the distinct, sporty look of a hardtop. The 510 Skydeck is the perfect choice for any buyer wishing for the convenience and simplicity that single level boating, yet who does miss having a flybridge on that perfect day!

The brilliance of the 510 Skydeck setup is that within a few short minutes a spacious open air flybridge area and helm station can be configured. Better still this setup is achieved without removing and stowing away multiple covers! It’s truly ingenious!

Its versatility and innovative inclusions earned the 510 Skydeck a World Yacht Trophy award for Innovative design at previous Cannes Yachting Festival.

In the 510 Skydeck saloon, uniquely engineered sliding aft side windows and electric forward side windows open this remarkable space to the outdoors.

Three cockpit layouts are available: full-sized garage with a sun pad on top, a classic L-shaped sofa and crew cabin setup, or the innovative rotational seat option that includes a compact garage. All options allow for the sensational ‘Beach Mode’, cantilevered aft side fold out balconies that extend the cockpit width to an incredible 6 metres to maximise deck space for optimal enjoyment.

The 510 Skydeck foredeck seating area can transform into a sundeck, with an optional, soft top bimini for extra protection. With the option of a crew cabin or garage and complimented by a powerful hydraulic hi-lo swim platform, the 510 Skydeck can carry an arsenal of water toys or provide a teenager’s retreat.

Below decks on board the 510, there are three cabins: a midship master cabin with private ensuite, bow VIP cabin with skylights for spectacular night views, a guest bathroom, and a double guest cabin that can be turned into a study, wardrobe or an additional lounge space.

Powered by twin Volvo Penta shaft driven D11-725hp engines, the Galeon 510 Skydeck is priced at AUD$1,999,000 inc GST. For those owners who prefer pod propulsion technology the 510 Skydeck can be Volvo IPS powered.
